The cheapest leads you will ever get are the ones you already paid for

Somewhere in your CRM, your inbox or a spreadsheet, there are hundreds of people who once contacted you and never bought. You already paid to acquire them. Almost nobody ever contacts them again.

Database reactivation works through that list properly. It is usually the fastest money available to a business, because there is no ad spend and no list to build — the audience already exists and already knows who you are.

Why those leads went cold in the first place

Most of them did not reject you. The timing was wrong, the budget was not there that quarter, or they got busy and the conversation simply stopped. Businesses read that silence as a no and move on.

Circumstances change. The person who could not afford it in March may have budget in September. The one who went with a competitor may have regretted it. Nothing about the original no is permanent, but nobody ever goes back to check.

The reason it does not happen is that manually re-contacting four hundred old leads is nobody’s idea of a good week. Automated, it is a campaign that runs in the background.

What we actually do

  1. We consolidate the list

Old leads live in several places at once — the CRM, an inbox, a spreadsheet, someone’s phone. We pull them together, remove duplicates and strip out anyone who opted out or should not be contacted.

  2. We segment by why they went cold

A quote that was too expensive needs a different message from an enquiry that was never replied to. Segmenting first is what stops this becoming a mass blast.

  3. The opener gives a reason for the timing

The message has to answer "why are you contacting me now" — new capacity, a changed price, a service you did not offer then. Without a reason, it reads as a database blast, because that is what it is.

  4. Replies are handled properly

A reactivation campaign produces a burst of replies in a short window. An AI agent or your team works through them, qualifies, and books the ones that are real.

  5. The list stays alive afterwards

Anyone who engages but does not buy goes onto ongoing nurture, so this becomes a repeatable campaign rather than a one-off you run once and forget.

Questions we get asked

Is contacting old leads allowed under POPIA?

It depends on how they came to you and what they agreed to. We check the basis for contacting each segment before anything sends, honour every existing opt-out, and include a clear opt-out in every message. Where the basis is not defensible, that segment does not get contacted.

My list is old. Is it worth anything?

Usually yes, and older lists often perform better than expected — the circumstances that caused the original no have had longer to change. Deliverability matters more than age: phone numbers hold up better than years-old email addresses.

Will this annoy people?

A relevant message with a genuine reason and an easy opt-out rarely does. A generic blast to everyone at once does. The segmentation step is what separates the two.

How quickly does it produce anything?

This is the fastest of everything we do, because there is no list to build and no ad spend to warm up. Replies typically start arriving the same day a campaign goes out.
